Acetic Acid

In its aqueous form Acetic acid is a clear colourless liquid with a distinctive aroma.
Acetic Acid is also known as E260, ethanoic acid, ethylic acid, methane carboxylic acid or vinegar.

Vinegar is used as a flavouring and preservative in some foods, pickling and as part of some baking to make cakes or bread rise.

This acid is often an unwanted byproduct of alcoholic beverages going bad, malt vinegar being a common flavour enhancer you might add to chips, Wine Vinegars and Cider Vinegars are also fairly common.

Although it is a weak acid in its dehydrated or concentrated forms Acetic Acid is flammable and corrosive.

As a food product it has been used safely for thousands of years.
